Freight Operations Manager

As the Freight Operations Manager, Ian oversees the LTL/TL and TMS products at GTMS. This role also includes overseeing GTMS logistics international operations team, providing our partners cutting edge logistical solutions to keep their supply chains moving. With over 15 years of experience working in the Inventory Management and transportation logistics field, Ian has provided service to a wide array of market sectors. Starting his career in support of the retail industry, supplying inventory and transportation solutions with both dry van and refrigerated options for a multitude of brick and mortar & online retailers. Using this experience, Ian moved into planning & logistics role with an asset-based trucking company with a focus on the construction and transportation projects. Transitioning over time, into a position overseeing global freight logistics in support of the Department of Defense.

Ian enjoys spending his time with his wife and son. He also enjoys fishing, golfing, and hiking, as well as traveling with his family.

Why Ian joined GTMS

Ian wanted to join a company where you are empowered to make the right decision. Being able to make a positive and measurable impacts on client’s daily operations by being running operations nimble enough to strike when opportunity presents itself. Sara Corley

Account Service Manager

As the Account Services Manager, Sara oversees the Accounting and Customer Service Departments. She’s an experienced Accounts Receivable and Customer Service specialist with a demonstrated history of working in the transportation industry, from maintaining stock records, inventory, material control, accounting, auditing, and supply reports. Sara has always been interested in mathematics, bookkeeping, and business administration.

Sara received her bachelor’s degree from Southern Utah University and has worked in logistics for over 10 years. She spent 8 years in the military as an Automated Logistics Specialist.

Sara loves spending time with her husband and their 3 puppies. She also enjoys camping, off-roading, and doing anything outdoors.

Jonny Tanner

Data Manager

In his role as Data Manager at GTMS, Jonny is responsible to ensure the quality of all data. This includes data security, data acquisition, data validation, and process flows. He has 7+ years’ experience in database management and development. He has experience in a wide variety of program languages and software applications. His past work experience has provided him a wide range of data applications. The impact of his work can be felt by all USU students/Teachers/Staff as he Architected and implemented a new ETL process for a University-Wide Student Survey System. He holds a Bachelor’s degree, as well as a Master’s degree in Management Information Systems from Utah State University. Go Aggies!!!

Jonny enjoys spending time with his wife, three children, 2 dogs, and 1 cat. He is an avid lover of LEGOLAND and Utah State Aggie Athletics. He loves talking sports with anyone. He is a true blue Utah State Aggie fan. In his free time, he also teaches Undergrad and Master level courses for Utah State University in the MIS department. He is passionate about not only understanding complex data systems, but teaching others how they function.

Why did he pick GTMS?

He can sum up this question with 1 word: Family. GTMS is creating something special and he wanted to help mold it.

Gaylynn Shaw

CFO

As CFO of a fast-growing company, it is important to bring all moving parts to one project platform to insure we run efficiently with the ability to control costs. This makes us competitive in the logistics industry. Gaylynn has spent many years in a cost savings, numbers environment. She enjoys the challenges of all this offers.

Gaylynn enjoys spending time with loved ones furry and human, she has a great love for animals, traveling and the outdoors. She has had a lot of amazing experiences with her husband and children.

Thurl Bailey

VP Business Development

Thurl Bailey joined the GTMS team in 2017 in the role of Vice President of Business Development. Thurl is a retired professional basketball player whose NBA career spanned from 1983 to 1999 with the Utah Jazz and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Bailey has been a broadcast analyst for the Utah Jazz and the University of Utah— in addition to work as an inspirational speaker, singer, songwriter, and film actor.

Throughout his career, Bailey has also been involved in community service. He has led a non-profit youth basketball program for over 20 years. Thurl’s XFactor program teaches important life skills, and have now been expanded to the corporate world to help businesses build winning teams and effective leaders. Bailey’s record of service has resulted in numerous awards for leadership and contributions to the community. Included in his awards are: the NBA’s prestigious Kennedy Community Award, the Utah Association for Gifted Children’s Community Service Award, Sigma Gamma Chi fraternity’s Exemplary Manhood Award, the Great Salt Lake Council of the Boy Scouts of America’s American Champion Award and the Italian League’s 1998 All Star Games Most Valuable Player.

Carl Berntson

Director of Operations

As Director of Operations, Carl is responsible for all operations and client management. He has over 35 years of experience in the transportation and logistics industry, including 30 years at UPS. During his tenure at UPS, Carl fulfilled many assignments in package operations, logistics planning, and labor relations. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in Computer Science and minor in Accounting.

Carl enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 children. He is an avid sports fan. He loves to watch the Las Vegas Raiders, Utah Jazz and Utah State Aggies whenever possible. Carl also loves traveling to new destinations with his wife.

Carl gets a great deal of satisfaction from helping others solve their logistics challenges. Carl’s experience in operations and logistics bring great value to customers in terms of cost reduction, and providing better service to their customers.

D. Shawn Shaw

President & CEO

Almost his entire career has been in the logistics arena, from a driver delivering heavy weight shipments to running the operation to selling logistic services with 20+ years of transportation experience to Global Transportation Management Solutions. Shawn spent 15 years in operations management, operations support and sales, where he managed logistics operations for many top 1000 companies earning multiple awards for lean logistics practices.

Shawn’s background also includes many years of hands on delivery for parcel, freight, international commerce and customs compliance. Shawn’s career path has led him to Emery Worldwide/ Menlo Logistics before founding GTMS.

For the past 11 years Shawn has been reducing his client’s logistics spend by hundreds of millions of dollars and on many occasions is referenced and used as an industry expert for both shippers and carriers. Shawn has been instrumental in securing some of the largest contracts for the company and has helped grow in double digits for the past 8 years. GTMS has become a passion for Shawn loving what he does every day!
